This past Sunday, we closed out yet another cycle of StoryAtlas, this time on the topic of, “The Monologue.” We had a remarkable group of actors and they rose to the intimidating challenge of performing alone.
We honor two actors every month. One is chosen by the panel of industry guests based on the quality of performance the final night (EXCELLENCE IN PERFORMANCE AWARD). The other is based on our observation of the actor’s growth and insight into the topic over the entire four-week class (BREAKTHROUGH AWARD).
This month, once again, our “Excellence in Performance Award” went to Leah Cevoli, this time for her heartbreaking and insightful monologue from LEAVING LAS VEGAS as Sera.
Our “Breakthrough Award” was a tie – for the first time in StoryAtlas history! Jorgie Goico found both depth and nuance in his monologue from DOG DAY AFTERNOON while David Charles embodied the concept of a “raw nerve” with his electric monologue from NETWORK.
StoryAtlas Honorees for May:
Excellence in Performance Award: Leah Cevoli for her portrayal of Sera in LEAVING LAS VEGAS.
Breakthrough Award (tie): Jorgie Goico for his portrayal of Sonny in DOG DAY AFTERNOON and David Charles for his portrayal of Howard Beale in NETWORK.
