Marsha Morgan & Eduardo Torres are StoryAtlas Honorees for June

This past Sunday, we closed out yet another cycle of StoryAtlas, this time on the topic of, “Genre Study: Mystery/Suspense.” We had a remarkable group of actors and they did extremely well with tense subject matter. We honor two actors every month. One is based on the quality of performance the final night (EXCELLENCE IN PERFORMANCE AWARD). The other is based on our observation of the actor’s growth and insight into the topic over the entire four-week class (BREAKTHROUGH AWARD). This month, our “Excellence in Performance Award” went to Marsha Morgan, for her hilarious and disturbed portrayal of Mrs. Castevet from ROSEMARY’S BABY. Ms. Morgan’s fearlessness in her performance greatly impressed our panel. Our “Breakthrough Award” went to class monitor Eduardo Torres for his role as The Cowboy in MULHOLLAND DRIVE. Torres found a sense of his own power which he used exceedingly well to build the character of a mysterious, intimidating enforcer. StoryAtlas Honorees for June: Excellence in Performance Award: Marsha Morgan for her role as Mrs. Castevet in ROSEMARY’S BABY. Breakthrough Award: Eduardo Torres for his role as The Cowboy in MULHOLLAND DRIVE....

Leah Cevoli, Jorgie Goico and David Charles are StoryAtlas Honorees for May

This past Sunday, we closed out yet another cycle of StoryAtlas, this time on the topic of, “The Monologue.” We had a remarkable group of actors and they rose to the intimidating challenge of performing alone. We honor two actors every month. One is chosen by the panel of industry guests based on the quality of performance the final night (EXCELLENCE IN PERFORMANCE AWARD). The other is based on our observation of the actor’s growth and insight into the topic over the entire four-week class (BREAKTHROUGH AWARD). This month, once again, our “Excellence in Performance Award” went to Leah Cevoli, this time for her heartbreaking and insightful monologue from LEAVING LAS VEGAS as Sera. Our “Breakthrough Award” was a tie – for the first time in StoryAtlas history! Jorgie Goico found both depth and nuance in his monologue from DOG DAY AFTERNOON while David Charles embodied the concept of a “raw nerve” with his electric monologue from NETWORK. StoryAtlas Honorees for May: Excellence in Performance Award: Leah Cevoli for her portrayal of Sera in LEAVING LAS VEGAS. Breakthrough Award (tie): Jorgie Goico for his portrayal of Sonny in DOG DAY AFTERNOON and David Charles for his portrayal of Howard Beale in...

Leah Cevoli and Michael Coghlan are StoryAtlas Honorees for April

This past Sunday, we closed out yet another cycle of StoryAtlas, this time on the topic of, “Drunk & High: Creating a Hot Mess.” We had a remarkable group of actors and a fun (but deceptively difficult!) topic. We honor two actors every month. One is chosen based on the quality of performance on the final night (EXCELLENCE IN PERFORMANCE AWARD). The other is based on our observation of the actor’s growth and insight into the topic over the entire four-week class (BREAKTHROUGH AWARD). This month, our “Excellence in Performance Award” went to Leah Cevoli, for her hilarious yet all-too-human performance as lush Edina Monsoon in ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS. Ms. Cevoli’s unique friendship with Patsy Stone provided a great vehicle for Cevoli to explore comedy, while maintaining a sense of reality about her character. Our “Breakthrough Award” went to Michael Coghlan for his performance as Julio in Y TU MAMA TAMBIEN. The scene opposite Hunter Gibson as Tenoch provided opportunities for Mr. Coghlan not only to explore the character’s drunken condition but also his guilt-racked conscience. April honorees: Excellence in Performance Award: Leah Cevoli for her work in ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS! Breakthrough Award: Michael Coghlan for his work in Y TU MAMA...
